Walter Hurtado (1993) is a freelance photographer and visual storyteller based in Panama.
Walter´s work is focused on social justice, human rights, and migration related issues.
Originally graduated from International Trade and Logistics; With experience in the private and non-governmental sector, he is characterized by having global mindset. Throughout his travels, he has developed in his photographs the portrait of human behavior in the environment that surrounds him, he also seeks to capture details among the many that the street and urban spaces can give; highlighting the Panamanian cultural diversity, emphasizing the traditions and rituals of each locality.
His interest on the identity of each culture and his experience as an immigrant, in a country so close to his, but very different, is one of the motivations for which he created the photographic project Panamá Instantánea (PI), this being also his first exhibition in 2017 and the trigger to become a photographer and visual documentary.
Currently, he is dedicated to independent photography and content creation for hotels, and as director of PI. Year after year, he seeks emerging artists to show Panamanian culture and identity through their photographs at an annual exhibition that gathers around 500 people.
