Summary
The Pavillon Populaire in Montpellier, France presents: Becoming Peter Lindbergh curated by Tara Longi.
Becoming Peter Lindbergh
June 22, 2022- September 18, 2022

MONTPELLIER, FRANCE-  Becoming Peter Lindbergh is currently at the Pavillon Populaire in Montpellier, France until September 18, 2022.

Peter Lindbergh was a German fashion photographer and film director. He is known for advancing the genre of fashion photography and for launching the “top model”. Sadly on September 3, 2019 he passed away.

Curated by Tara Long—this exhibition is in his honor. He is recognized as a feminist photographer because he redefined beauty standards by photographing women of all ages. He was a “naturalist”. Lindbergh refused to excessively retouch his photos. Peter Lindbergh has been quoted saying that- “beauty is the courage to be oneself. … it should be the responsibility of modern photographers to free women, and ultimately everyone, from the tyranny of youth and perfection”.

This exhibition will highlight how he built fashion photography and the changes he was able implement in the fashion world throughout his career. Some of the famous images include Marlon Brando on his motorcycle, to the Beatles, to Josephine Baker reincarnated in Naomie Campbell.

Guests can view the work of Peter Lindbergh Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. free of charge.
