Thandile Zwelibanzi was born in 1987 in Eastern Cape, South Africa and is currently based in Johannesburg. Zwelibanzi studied and also worked as a Course Assistant at the Market Photo Workshop, Johannesburg, South Africa (2008-2011). He is the Sixth recipient of Edward Ruiz Mentorship at the Market Photo Workshop. The Edward Ruiz Mentorship is a mentorship programme that has been established to help launch the career of a promising photographer. The mentorship is set out as a developmental mentorship, aimed at assisting an emerging photographer. Zwelibanziâ€™s body of work, Still Existence, produced in 2010/2011, as part of the Edward Ruiz Mentorship has been part of the 9th Rencontres de Bamako African Biennial in Mali. Still Existence documents the lives and challenges facing informal traders on the streets of Johannesburg.
