American Travel Diary
This is an ongoing, unfolding portfolio about America, a country I cross again and again as I travel from city to city for exhibitions of my work, university talks, workshops and other events. Between all the moving around, reserving train tickets, collapsing on sofas and sterile hotel beds from sheer exhaustion, I can sometimes stop, look around, and catch a glance at the country itself, increasingly diverse, economically and morally ill, tragic, tired, and yet dark and beautiful in a way few other countries are. The photos in this portfolio (so far) were taken in the states of Florida, New York, New Mexico, Louisiana, Minnesota, Illinois, and Texas.
