In May 2019,  I photographed an assignment for the Wall Street Journal. Mel & his son are soy, corn and dairy farmers are feeling the effects of the recent tariffs. Mel has been farming for 47 years and told me all about the history of their farm (and insisted I needed a photo with the cows lol). He is very concerned about the future of the farm currently.
