This week, JA Mortram is taking over the Open Society Instagram account with a new story each day from his project Small Town Inertia (@smalltowninertia). Jim documents the lives of people living in the fringes of British society, many of whom are on public benefits. He himself is full-time carer for his mother who has a severe form of epilepsy. He only shoots within 3 miles of his home and is on public assistance himself. He had to plan for months in order to have the time to shoot and plan his posts for the take-over since he only gets a free hour or two each day. He told me he only owns three pairs of socks.
