David Gross is drawn to stories of humanity on the edges of civilization. Gross found himself photographing war and its aftermath, trying to discover what it means to be a human being by looking at the extremes.
Since 1999, Gross has worked in Europe, the middle east, and Asia, photographing war, genocide, disaster, wildfire, and criminal justice. He has published in major European and American magazines and newspapers.
He is a graduate of U.C. Berkeley’s Graduate School of Journalism, where he studied print reporting, radio, and photojournalism, with additional studies at the Human Rights Center in war, post-conflict, and international human rights.
