About
Valérie Berta is an international photographer based in the United States.
She was born and raised on the Riviera, in the South of France, studied English in Paris
and journalism at the University of MissouriColumbia and worked as a photojournalist
around the world for a variety of media outlets, from Agence FrancePresse in Paris and
Hong Kong to small daily newspapers in the U.S. In 2000 she met her future husband and
later joined him on the road with the circus, where she raised their two boys and started
her personal documentary project, The Mudshow Diaries, about her life and family in the
circus and the life and families of the circus.
Valérie Berta is now settled in Columbia, Missouri, where she founded The WE Project and the Voices Workshop,
and is available for editorial assignments throughout the United States and Latin America.
