Born in Tehran in 1982, Maryam Ashrafi is impassioned for sociology which led her to focus on social and political matters in countries around the world

Graduated with a BA in social documentary photography from the University of Wales Newport in England, she started to explore the social and political issues from the Kurds in Kurdistan to France where she worked on various subjects: refugees in Paris, mobilisations of the Kurdish and Iranian diasporas and the Indignants Movement.

She is a Freelance photographer based in Paris and ready to accept assignments
