Search for sparsity and pushing the boundaries of emptiness are the main thrusts behind this project. I explore the sky/ocean division via a modified DSLR camera sensitive to infrared 820nm-1100nm wavelength, offering a unique interpretation of the world around us, inaccessible to human senses. Shooting at infrared offers the viewer an alternative prism through which to view the world. The images were taken over a span of multiple months, invariably shot from the same location 40.582N, 73.818W pointing in the same direction. All images were captured between dusk and an hour after sunset, largely dark, arbitrarily approaching nothingness yet preserving hints of a living world. The work was exhibited at School of Visual Arts thesis exhibition, New York, 2017.
