The Island’ born from an urge to explore the faces, stories, lives of many Bengali guys who spend their nights at the gasoline stations offering their help to drivers in exchange for a tip. Sat down, lighted only by neon lights, their faces emerge from the darkness that surrounds them almost like castaways on a remote Island waiting for a ship that can rescue them. Men arrived in Italy with the hope to leave behind the poverty and the problems of their country, but forced to face the difficulties of one of the biggest city in the world: Rome. This project, realized between 2012 and 2013, tells about this reality that flows along roadsides.
