Madagascar is often left out of conversations about Africa, but it is currently experiencing the same issues around population growth, the depletion of natural resources, and food and water security.

Many Malagasy people are currently abandoning their small rural villages and moving into the capital of Antananarivo or other provincial cities around the country in search of work. In a country where only 20% of the population has access to running water and electricity, the effects of overpopulation in city centres are very apparent.
