Amal, Munna & Lion
Amal, Munna and Lion belong to an immigrant Yemeni family who runs a bodega in Brooklyn, New York. Amal and Munna, six-year-old twins and Lion, a ten-year-old suffering from down syndrome along with seven other siblings are supported by their single mother who manages household chores as well as the bodega. While they bring a sense of cultural pride, this narrative illustrates their Yemeni American identity as they go through their childhood.
