This hospital in Kyiv was engaged in providing planned and urgent care to local residents in the areas of general and vascular surgery, and most specialist services . After Russia launched a full scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, the hospital began to transition into a wartime hospital. They are treating mainly mine-explosive trauma, gunshot and shrapnel wounds, and concussions. The hospital had to cancel all planned surgeries and hospitalizations. To deal with its role as a wartime hospital, they added 2 neurosurgeons, 2 thoracic surgeons, 5 traumatologists, and 5 general surgeons in addition to the existing specialists. 75% of doctors, including heads of all departments, are now living in the hospital. They state their goal simply: to save as many lives as possible.
