Despite spanning the entire northern length of Turkey, the Black Sea Region remains one of the least visited parts of the country by foreign travellers. Its oceanic climate stands in contrast to the rest of the largely dry, Mediterranean country, contributing to a lush, rugged landscape more reminiscent of Ireland’s Atlantic coast, or the Pacific Northwest of the United States.  The region offers sweeping mountainous landscapes, untouched beaches, colourful traditional fishing villages, and hidden monasteries, while also providing around 75% of the world's supply of hazelnuts, as well as medicinal herbs and teas.
