Esserci / Be there
Lecco, north of Lombardy, one of the regions most affected by covid-19 contagion. Second week of April: all Italian citizens are in confinement except for workers who have to guarantee essential services as disclosed through government decrees. I want to participate too, give a testimony using photography and I decide to use the portrait in the working environment as a common thread, so that every portrayed worker will be a testimony of his or her own function. The project is simple, I prepare the equipment, get in the car and leave. During the journey I meet many more workers than I listed on my notebook. I decide to stop and ask each worker to pose for a portrait as a testimony of the lockdown situation. No one refused, everyone in their own way seemed proud to be caring of the community, despite the risk of being infected. -
Lecco, aprile 2020
Seconda settimana di aprile 2020, tutti i cittadini Italiani sono in confinamento tranne quelli che devono garantire i servizi essenziali come divulgato attraverso i dpcm del governo. Il mio progetto è semplice, preparo l’attrezzatura, salgo in auto e percorro le strade della mia città, Lecco, a nord della Lombardia, una delle regioni più colpite dai contagi di covid-19. Lungo il mio tragitto vedo i pochi negozianti aperti e i lavoratori che, applicando le regole di sicurezza per non diffondere il contagio, svolgono le proprie attività. Decido di fermarmi e di chiedere ad ognuno di loro un ritratto ambientato come testimonianza della situazione di lockdown. Nessuno si è rifiutato, anzi avevano piacere che qualcuno potesse registrare il loro "esserci" a disposizione della comunità malgrado il rischio del contagio.
