The Sao Paulo Amputee Soccer Team meet every friday night to train at the Worker´s Union Social Club in the Vila Maria neighborhood. The team is the first to be formed in the city of Sao Paulo and was founded in 2015 by Wellington Lopes, Ewerton Moreno and Marcelo Souza after they spent years traveling one hour and a half one way,  once or even twice a week to reach the city of Mogi das Cruzes for the nearest gathering of amputees soccer training in the state of Sao Paulo. Last year, in 2016, a new team was formed in Sao Paulo due to high demand.

Nowadays there are 11 official amputee soccer teams in Brazil and a National team. With no official sponsoring, the Sao Paulo team members strive to keep up their personal recoveries and their morale upon the distress to fund their gatherings and the lack of opportunities for the handicapped community in a country that has just recently hosted the biggest sports event in the world.

*In 2016 the two teams from Sao Paulo formed the “Ball Foward National Association” ( Associacao Bola pra Frente) to seek partners and funders of the project and to better structure themselves.
