Dan Lamont has shot hundreds of assignments for publications like Time, Newsweek, The New York Times, Smithsonian, Stern, The Guardian, Der Spiegel, GEO, Audubon Magazine, the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Fortune and a multitude of other international editorial organizations. Dan was affiliated with the editorial picture agencies Matrix International and Sygma as well as a network of highly respected agencies in Europe and Asia. He has been best known for visual stories at the nexus of environmental and social issues. 

As digital technology advanced and high quality hybrid cameras became available,  Dan returned to his early career experience in filmmaking and formed Tatoosh Media, a multimedia production company that aims to tell compelling engaging stories across media platforms and channels. With Lamont as producer and director Tatoosh has shot dozens of short documentary films, mostly with non-profit funding and primarily on issues related to social justice. 

Active in his professional community, Dan has been President of the non-profit Blue Earth Alliance, President of The American Society of Media Photographers Foundation and served on the University of Washington Communications Alumni Board. He was a Journalism Fellow at Seattle University funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation covering issues of family homelessness and a Communications Leadership Fellow at the University of Washington. He has taught numerous college courses, professional seminars and workshops on subjects related to photojournalism, video production and multimedia. Dan also has a background as a writer/reporter, photo editor and publication art director.
