Lorenzo is a 54 year old man from Paraguay. In 1980, after graduating from high school and serving in the military, Lorenzo came to the States to pursue the "American Dream." He attended CSUF for one semester before dropping out due to expenses. Lorenzo worked at a gas station and AVIS for 30 years. During that time, he married and had three children. In 1999, he divorced and retained custody of his kids. In February of 2014, after losing his job, Lorenzo became homeless. In 2015, he received housing with the assistance of the Ilumination Foundation.
Dorothy Mulkey fought for fair housing in Santa Ana in the civil rights era; now she's homeless.
On December 14, 2014, Dorothy Mulkey's home caught fire. The damage made her home uninhabitable. Eli Reyna, a local videographer, met Mulkey while working at the OC Human Relations Commission and began a house fund to support Mulkey.
Lawrence E. Leonard Sr., 81, looks outside his front porch Friday, Dec. 4, 2015. Leonard has been a resident of Fairlawn in Ward 8 in Washington, D.C. for 41 years. Leonard watched over many of the children on the block during his early years as a resident and was affectionately named "Mr. Lenny."
