Migrant Caravan

On October 13, 2018, about 3 thousand Hondurans, including children,
teenagers and adults, began a march to the United States.
Their motive, violence, unemployment, low wages, political harassment and corruption within the Honduran government institutions.
This situation has accelerated since June 2009, where occurred one of the largest political crises of the country’s contemporary history.
As the journey progresses, more migrants have joined, including people from El Salvador, Nicaragua and Guatemala.
Upon their arrival at the border with Guatemala, a first physical obstacle arose; Guatemalan police prevented the passage of the caravan for hours, imposing itself the amount of people that conform it.
The Mexican government tried to stop it; the apparatus set up for it, made up of more than 700 elements of the Federal Police and anti-riot, proved unsuccessful. Finding the border crossing sealed, they crossed into the neighboring country in rudimentary rafts made of tires and boards.
A calculation of the number of people that make up this caravan oscillate around: 2622 men, 2,234 women, 1,070 boys and 1,307 girls a total of 7,233.
This documentary work begins with the arrival of the migrant caravan to the Mexican border and will be continue documenting until the arrival of the contingent, either to the United States or to the granting of asylum to migrants in Mexico.

Caravana Migrante
