Very honored and grateful to be selected as this year's Alexia Foundation professional grant winner with my work from Spirit Lake, North Dakota. My project examines the effects of trauma perpetuated by the recurrent sexual abuse on Spirit Lake reservation and the role of traditional healing practices in overcoming pain.
Thank you Alexia Foundation and the brave people of Spirit Lake for your trust!
Also thanks to judges MaryAnne Golon/ The Washington Post, Adriana Teresa Letorney /Visura, Zun Lee and Mike Davis /Syracuse for selecting my work.
