He has worked as a freelance photographer for various international media and news agencies in different countries such as Venezuela where he lived and worked as a photojournalist for more than three years.

For the past four years, he has been focused on long-term projects combining photographic work with documentary video mainly related to Spanish historical memory.

His works have been published in international media like TIME, El País, The New York Times, Le Magazine du Monde, National Geographic or AP. He has been awarded in the Picture Of The Year International (2017), has participated in Rey de España Award for Journalism (2018), has been also awarded in the Luis Valtueña International Humanitarian Photography Award (2019) and, in 2021 together with his collective and production company NERVIO presented their last documentary about the central Mediterranean migration crisis at the San Sebastian film and human rights festival.

In 2023, Santi won the Gabriel García Márquez Award in the Photography category for his work on the disappeared during the Spanish dictatorship, published in NatGeo.

Currently, Santi has established his base in his homeland, Andalusia, and has started a research work on the consequences of industrial agriculture and livestock farming throughout the country. His work is very focused on the effects on the environment and on the health of the population.

After working all over the world, Santi has decided to focus his photographic and journalistic interest on his homeland, analyzing the geostrategic role of this country in the world economy and the social consequences.
