The seventh mission of the Aita Mari begins on the 10th of January 2022 in the port of Burriana, in the Valencian Community. The vessel of the NGO Salvamento Marítimo Humanitario (SMH) is named after José Maria Zubia, popularly known as Aita Mari, since they have in common the altruistic rescue of people in danger at sea. On the 20th of January, it set sail for the Central Mediterranean with the aim of rescuing any type of boat in danger. After five days at sea, it reached the SAR (Search And Rescue) zone, where that same night it received a warning of a wooden boat adrift with 280 people. In total, during the seventh mission, the Aita Mari took part in three rescues of boats travelling from Libya.

This coverage has been done for the Associated Press (AP). Some of these photos have been published in Time Magazine, The Washington Post, The Guardian, CNN, The Times, The Boston Globe, The Irish Times, Der Spiegel, Revista 5W, El País, Diari ARA, among others.
