On the 19th of September 2021, the volcanic eruption on the island of La Palma, specifically in the municipality of El Paso, in the Canary Islands, began. The Cumbre Vieja has been the most destructive volcano on the islands. After 85 days of activity, the eruption stopped on the 13th of December, making it the longest eruption ever recorded. According to the General Directorate of Catastro, in these 12 weeks it has destroyed 1,628 buildings, 1,304 of which are dwellings.
