The Nazi Hunters, Daily Telegraph, UK

My image from an idea I put up to The Daily Telegraph (UK). Used on Christmas Eve. Germany has a central institute and prosecutor in Ludwigsburg that has been collating files on Nazi crimes and the individuals involved since WW2. Originally Germany had quite a poor history of tracking down and bringing to justice those involved in War Crimes under the Third Reich. For instance pretty much all the judges that had sat in place and gave judgment under National Socialism stayed in place following the Allied victory of 1945. A lot of this can be tied in historically as the ‘victors’ obsession to halt the spread of the Soviet Union as the world dropped into ‘ the cold war’. Less of a concern on holding any but the ringleaders through the Nürnberg Trials to account. Indeed if you get a chance to read: Ordinary Men-reserve police battalion 101, you’ll learn that a lot of the Nazi’s from atrocities in Poland ended up in the Hamburg Police Force following the end of the war years! That said with a new generation of Germans the fabled 68 Generation Germany got to grip with its past. However, this time is coming to an end as the last remaining war criminals are simply dying off. #nazihunters#germany#ww2#portraitphotography#photojournalism#editorial#holocaust#justice#TheCentralOfficeforthe Investigation ofNationalSocialistCrimes #warcrimes#warcrimesagainsthumanity
