Lee Houskeeper from San Francisco, CA traveled with his papier-mâché Trump to take part in the anniversary of the Women’s March on Saturday, January 20, 2018 in Washington, DC. He is advocating for the re-opening of Alcatrazz prison saying, “San Franciscans want to reopen Alcatrazz as a prison, and we’d like to have Trump housed there. It would be a boon to our travel business. And it’s okay with us if he tweets ‘cause we’ll sell more t-shirts.” — Thousands of people gathered at the Lincoln Memorial for the anniversary of the Women’s March DC, and for March on the Polls with the goal of advancing peaceful and positive progress in communities across the country, and ensuring all women and their allies persist in civic and political roles moving into 2018. Sister marches took place around the country and around the world. © Carla Cioffi

Marna Gettleman of Ashburn, VA is seen wearing a red cloak and white hat referencing characters in Margaret Atwood’s book The Handmaid’s Tale at the anniversary of the Women’s March on Saturday, January 20, 2018 in Washington, DC. When asked why she was at the march she offered, “I’m here for the second time since last year to make sure the current administration knows that there are people who don’t support their misogynist, racist agenda and that we will resist that at every turn. And I get so much more energy surrounded by other people, and I think that helps us maintain our resistance. That’s why I’m here.” — Thousands of people gathered at the Lincoln Memorial for the anniversary of the Women’s March DC, and for March on the Polls with the goal of advancing peaceful and positive progress in communities across the country, and ensuring all women and their allies persist in civic and political roles moving into 2018. Benjamin Buchanan, originally from Dallas, but now lives in Baltimore, is seen at the anniversary of the Women’s March on Saturday, January 20, 2018 in Washington, DC. I asked him why he was at this march and he shared, “So this is my third march on Washington. The first was when I was like nine months old. It was women for animal rights. As a vegan-feminist the inter-connected oppression experienced by women, animals, people of color and all that are discriminated against are things that the US ought to be taking more action rather than more back seats about fixing. And last year was really incredible to be here surrounded by so many people that are interested in working and showing up for change as opposed to watching and tweeting about the lack thereof.” — Thousands of people gathered at the Lincoln Memorial for the anniversary of the Women’s March DC, and for March on the Polls with the goal of advancing peaceful and positive progress in communities across the country, and ensuring all women and their allies persist in civic and political roles moving into 2018. “Beauty can spontaneously occur at any moment given the proper circumstances, context, or point of view. Beauty is thus an altered state of consciousness, an extraordinary moment of poetry and grace.” - Leonard Koren | Botanicals - inspired by the philosophy of Wabi-Sabi.
