They walked towards the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM), in order to cross the borders through an uncontrolled spot. Around 1,500 refugees left the informal camp in an attempt to cross the country’s border after hours of walking. The most shocking fact about this route is the crossing of borders, through an affluent of Aksios river, having swelled after days of heavy rain. They have achieved that by forming a human chain, fighting against the harsh river stream. Their faces and the common fight in solidarity, as it is shown in the images, depicting the human struggle against nature’s phenomenon as well as state policies, blocking borders and controlling flow of humans in desperate condition.
