Depois da chegada de uma forte onde de frio polar em 2021, juntamente com um inverno extremamente seco, a vegetação do cerrado ficou muito seca, mais do que o de costume para esta época do ano. Os bombeiros alertaram a população local. Até a reserva da Floresta Nacional de Ipanema, algumas partes do parque foram fechadas por causa da alta possibilidades de ocorrerem queimadas.
