Color is more than an outer visual experience. It is also an interior psychological one that can radically affect mood and emotion. It is a pure form of communication that can project personality and set the tone in different aspects of one’s life.

Reactions to a certain color can be uniquely personal, but at the same time, color can produce a universal response among people. Warm colors like red, yellow and orange can produce feelings of warmth or aggressiveness, while cool colors like green and blue can be calming or depressing.

I choose color as my locus of exploration because it resonates with me on different levels. Artists like Mark Rothko and Wassily Kandinsky who solidify my thoughts about the relationship between color and emotion, and the similar textural qualities between fabric and paint inspire me.

Color is present all around us and there is a combination of positive and negative energies within colors, which affect us consciously or unconsciously. We tend to absorb these energies, which in turn influence how we react to the experiences life throws at us.

There is a similarity in the color pattern in which people handle their emotions as life happens and I hope that this ongoing project leads to a point where my work can serve as a form of therapy for anyone who needs it.
