Belgium photographer Léonard Pongo wins the 2017 Visura Grant for Outstanding Personal Projects

Visura is delighted to announce the results of the 2017 Visura Grant for Outstanding Personal Project, including the winner, top finalist, and 20 honorable mentions. The winner will receive $5000 in cash; additionally, the twenty-two photographers will have access to a sponsored 90-minute individual editorial consultation review with the photo editor and curator Scott Thode.
Congratulations to Belgian photographer Léonard Pongo for receiving the 2017 Visura Grant for Outstanding Personal Project. Léonard will receive $5000 in cash to support the production and development of his long-term project titled The Uncanny, a series that narrates the crossroad between Congolese daily life and Léonard's personal experience discovering his Congolese roots.

The Finalist is Colombian-American photographer Juan Arredondo for Everybody needs a good neighbor, a series that documents the lives and challenges of current and former child soldiers in Colombia as they transition into civilian a life.
