In 2017, Scout Film Festival sent Caleb Wild and Carol Nguyen - two of our 2017 winning filmmakers - to Denmark to participate in an enriching Youth Talent Camp and Festival affiliated with Academy-Qualifying Odense International Film Festival through our partners Station Next and The Next Film Festival. Caleb Wild won Best International Screenplay for his film, Cycle!

This year, Scout was invited to recommend and send another of our talented young filmmakers to this intimate venue. In August, Christina Xing , Director of How The Moon Fell From The Sky and No One Even Noticed travels to Denmark to represent her film, the other high school students involved in making the film and Scout!

Christina says:

"How the Moon Fell from the Sky and No One Even Noticed explores the relationship of best friends Benji and Ruben as they make a film together. When their artistic visions diverge and a love triangle develops on set, the boys find their friendship stretched to the limit.

While at it's core the film is a grounded drama, there are crazy fever dream sequences (like gigantic dance numbers reminiscent of Hollywood classics, a vibrant color palette, and magical realism inspired by the French New Wave) that provide a whimsical, hopeful tone that is rarely present in films about LGBTQ youth.

We made this film to inspire and remind young artists-- LGBTQ+ and otherwise-- that their dreams are worth pursuing, that all bad things come to an end, and that not even the sky is the limit.

This film was produced, choreographed, crewed and performed by high school students. The live orchestra was performed and conducted by high school students. This is a testament to the power of young artists who work together to achieve what no one thought possible."

Thank you to The Next Film Festival , Station Next and Odense International Film Festival for your thoughtful collaborations and partnership.
