Norman Behrendt (1981, Berlin) majors in Photography at the University of Applied Sciences, Department of Design in Potsdam, Germany in 2012. He received top marks and a distinction for his project 'burning down the house' and the photobook of the same name.

In October 2013 his photobook 'burning down the house' won the first prize at the Dummy Award 2013 in Kassel, Germany and will be published by seltmann+sí¶hne in December 2014.
"This dummy impressed the jury the most as it felt that not only had a great deal of work gone into photographing and compiling the extensive book as a whole, but that its »packaging« perfectly suited its subject matter on Berlin graffiti writers, i.e. in that the paper used for the cover was based on the design of the seating material used in Berlin S-Bahn trains. A well-conceived and striking object!" (Curt Holtz, Prestel Publishing, Jury member)

'Burning down the house' got also an appreciation at the '10th Aenne-Biermann-Prize' for contemporary photography in Gera, Germany.

In May 2012 his work 'lost traces' won the competition »Tatort« by f/16 school for photography in Berlin, Germany.

In 2011 Norman Behrendt and his colleagues received a grant by Quatiersmanagement Schí¶neberger Norden and Pallasseum Wohnbauten kG, Berlin for the project 'Pallasseum Portraits'.

His work has been exhibited in numerous galleries and a museum in Germany and has been part of international festivals in Germany, France, Italy and Ireland.
