Wildlife Alliance
For years the main target of the Wildlife Alliance, an NGO whose purpose is to protect the environment in Cambodia, was the smugglers of Safrol oil, a base for the production of Ecstacy.
After years, the Cambodian government, under international pressure, has decided to hardly punish the producers of this substance. Fear of being arrested by rangers has prompted many Safrol oil producers to change their business. If the market of the Safrol oil was too risky, there was still a product in the jungle that still enjoyed little consideration by the government and with higher profit, precious wood.
Wildlife Alliance rangers continue to patrol the Cardamom Mountains jungle, protecting the interest of all from the few who seek personal profits in the wealth of this environment.
