The Long Wait To Freedom - Refugee Crisis in Berlin

The Syrian Civil War has been raging since March 2011 and has since caused an exodus of over 3 million refugees.

Mudar Azkahi, 32, his wife Tala Muslim, 23, and their children Hamza, 4, and Hala, 2, were waiting to register for seeking asylum at LaGeSo (regional office for health and social affairs) over a month in 2015.

Around 1000 new refugees were arriving on a daily basis, some had to wait for weeks before being registered, as the government struggled to handle the refugee crisis. Latest statistics from January 2016 estimate that over 1.1 Million refugees arrived in Germany in 2015.
