Lianne Milton is an American photographer based in Brazil and a member of Panos Pictures. Her work pursues stories with the goal of focusing on the effects of politics on people and their environments, in places such as SE Asia, Latin American, as well as the U.S.
Lianne has been shooting for publications such as the Guardian of London, CNN, National Public Radio, National Geographic Proof, Newsweek, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Mother Jones Magazine, The Sunday Times, Washington Post, and many others. Her clients also include Action Aid, Ford Foundation, Hertz Foundation, Open Society Foundations, Smile Train, and UNICEF. In 2004, she received her BA in Photojournalism from San Francisco State.
Lianne currently lives in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and when she's not chasing stories, she's out chasing swells.
Previously Lianne lived in the outer lands of San Francisco, home to chilly waters, amazing light, and the best pizza and soup dumplings on the west coast.
