Jessica Alpern

Jessica Alpern was born in Rota, Spain in 1981, arriving in the U.S. a year later to grow up in 6 states and countless different houses. She joined the Navy in 2000; serving as a Photographer stationed in Yokosuka, Japan onboard the only permanently forward-deployed aircraft carrier until she was discharged. After graduating from the New England School of Photography in Boston, Massachusetts she moved to Austin to work as a forensic photographer for the state of Texas. Jessica eventually gave in to her nomadic tendencies, selling her home and the rest of her possessions to become crew aboard a 36 foot catamaran that crossed the Atlantic and eventually landed in, of all places, Rota, Spain. She recently returned to Austin to prepare her body of work for its first public viewing and eat bar-b-q.
