About

Born in 1979 to a Filipino family, Jeff Dojillo grew up in the Los Angeles area where, from a young age, he immersed himself in the urban culture that surrounded him. Drawing influence from hip-hop, graffiti, and dance as well as his family’s culture, he started on his path of creative expression.

In 2001 Jeff left Los Angeles for San Diego, where he earned his Bachelors of Fine Art from San Diego State University in 2006. During this time he focused his studies on painting, drawing, printmaking, and photography. He developed such a passion for the latter that he chose to pursue a Masters of Fine Art in Photography, which he earned from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco in 2010.

Along with his scholarly endeavors, Jeff remains active in the photographic industry—developing his craft through work with Stephen Higgins, Brad Polt-Jones, Alison Wright, and, most recently, Michael Grecco and Mona Kuhn.

From the start, Jeff has embraced the conceptual and narrative aspects of photography. Using photography as an emotional outlet, he excels in producing thoughtful, evoking photographs that never once seem false. Sticking mainly to natural light and film, his photographs manage to project an ethereal aura set securely in a specific moment and place.
